The
Prayer of Noah is from "Prayers from the Ark" - a wonderful
book of inspiration as relevant today as it was during the trials of WW2.
The series of poems was written at a Benedictine Abbey just south of Paris
by a french woman who had lost everything but her faith. The author, Carmen
Bernos de Gasztold, remained at the Abbey after the war and the Ark Prayers
were not discovered until 1962.

Noah's
Prayer
Lord,
What a menagerie!
Between Your downpour and these animal cries
one cannot hear oneself think!
The days are long, Lord.
All this water makes my heart sink.
When will the ground cease to rock under my feet?
The days are long.
Master Raven has not come back.
Here is your dove.
Will she find us a twig of hope?
The days are long, Lord.
Guide your Ark to safety,
some zenith of rest,
where we can escape at last
from this brute slavery.
The days are long,
Lord.
Lead me until I reach the shore of Your covenant.
Amen.

The
book goes on to the prayers of the Animals on Noahs Ark - from the tiny
butterfly to the elephant, the ships cat to the prayer of the dove.
Each prayer request will touch your heart with sentiments of hope, faith
and sometimes a little humor.
